Endpaper maps of the Roman Empire range from the Age of Augustus in vol. I to "Europe A.D. 1360" in vol. VII. EXCEPTIONALLY FINE COPY: nearly as NEW: Very tight, bright, & clean. Leather backstrips are dark with bright gilt but without chipping or red-rust. Leather and marbled boards are strong and immaculate with minute traces of edgewear. All 80 engraved plates (most double-spread) are present; have crisp coloration, excellent registration, and are without any foxing or fading. No stray personal markings, thumbprints, stains, underlining or annotations. Protective transparent mylar dust jackets have been added. Lack slipcase. No previous owner or remainder marks. It is extremely rare to find this set in condition like this. Just look at ebay "sold" listings for this title, and you will see the difference.
