Description: RARE ARTICULATED 15CT ROSY GOLD WOVEN LINK BRACELET This listing is for a quite unique and oh so beautiful 15ct rosy gold bracelet dating to the Edwardian period most likely but possibly late Victorian c.1910 Suitable for everyday wear or an elegant evening out this beautifully crafted piece of antique jewellery will complement most outfits. 15ct gold was used prominently during the Victorian, Edwardian, and early Art Deco periods, recognized for its rich, warm yellow or rose gold appearance (depending) that sets it apart from all other gold grades including 18ct in my humble opinion. It has a buttery look and feel that is unique to 15ct gold only. Production of 15ct gold ended in 1932 and so there can never be any doubt as to its authenticity. It’s very tempting to refer to this lovely flexing mesh bracelet as a ‘gatelink’ but technically it’s not . Gatelinks have at least some long straight links joined by small oval links like the ones in this bracelet which make them look like an old fashioned country gate. This bracelet’s design consists of the small oval links only – some single and some double links laid out in a sort of ‘brick’ design. It has been made to flex and move in an almost sinuous way -see video- which makes it lovely to wear – not rigid like a bangle. The box and tongue clasp has been seamlessly integrated into the piece, providing security without interrupting the bracelet's fluid design. It also boasts a safety chain - just to make sure it isn’t lost. It is stamped 15 on the tongue section (see photos) and tests as such. I am not a thin (or young) person anymore but it still fits me all the same (I’m the model, apologies but it’s either me, the husband or the cat and he’s asleep right now). As it is not loose fitting it won’t get caught on things either which I have always found irritating with some bracelets I have worn over the years. I rarely wear jewellery now, no occasions to show off any more so it’s time this lovely thing found a new home and continue to be admired for the excellent example of jewellery making from times gone by that it is. I am providing the old Prouds box with this bracelet – not original but will do the trick and is almost from the same era……..sort of. Postage includes insurance CONDITION In very good antique condition with a minor signs of age and use but no damage as such. Clasp works just as it should, nice and tight when you click it in. The odd tiny dent or ding in a link here and there – mainly near the clasp though which I’ve shown in a close up photo but you don’t see them with the naked eye – the camera is ruthless! Safety chain all good. DIMENSIONS The safety chain prevents me from laying it out to measure it precisely but it’s approximately: 19cm (7.5") long which is ‘average’ for a bracelet 1cm (5/16") wide at the clasp and narrows very slightly from there. Weight is: 23.4 grams ++++++ The porcelain hand in the photos is not life size – more like ½ to 2/3 the scale of a small woman’s hand. Old woman in one photo is life size. I am providing the old Prouds box with this bracelet – not original but will do the trick. >>>>>>1925<<<<<< We guarantee our descriptions are accurate and our prices competitive.
