Description: Extremely Scarce framed Colored Engraving Of Napoleon Bonaparte At The Pont d’ Arcole engraved by Giussepe Longhi circa 1798 after a painting by Antoine-Jean Gros done in 1796-early 1797. The first emblematic image of the Napoleonic propaganda campaign. The image shows a young Napoleon leading his troops across the Arcole bridge in battle from the 15-17 November 1796. Frame size 20 5/8” x 16 1/2”. Print size is (sight) 14 1/2” x 18.5”. A few black and white examples exist in museum collections but this colored version is quite scarce.
