Sturdy 16-gauge tubing Extra thick 3/8” flanges for a leak-free seal Designed as a direct fit replacement for factory exhaust manifolds Will accommodate all emission control devices Bolts directly to factory head pipe Complete with premium gaskets and hardware Installation:PREPARE THE VEHICLE FOR INSTALLATION:1. Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental damage to the electrical system.2. From below, remove the exhaust pipes from the manifolds.3. Unbolt the spark plug wire looms. Tag and remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs and position them out of the way.CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE ENGINE MOUNTS:It is recommended that you install new engine mounts before installing the headers.LEFT SIDE HEADER INSTALLATION:1. Remove the oil dipstick and tube. Unbolt the exhaust and remove.2. Clean the cylinder head of any grease, rust, and gasket material that may be present.3. It will be necessary to straighten the dipstick bracket for header clearance (Figure A).4. Install the gasket and header using the header bolt supplied. Torque to the factory specifications (30-35 ft./lbs.).5. Install the dipstick and tube. Check clearance.RIGHT SIDE HEADER INSTALLATION:1. Unbolt the E.F.I. plenum support. Unbolt the exhaust manifold and remove.2. Clean the cylinder head of any grease, rust, and gasket material that may be present.3. Temporarily install the header using two bolts. This is to determine if modification is necessary to fit the plenum support.4. Modify the plenum support. Grind the bottom end of the support bracket to clear the larger tubes. Bend the bottom end of the bracket to fit (Figure B). 5. On this set, the secondary A.I.R. tube has a plastic diverter valve at the rear. This valve must be moved away from the header by using the steel bracket included. This bracket will bolt to the tube’s original location and the tube will be mounted to the bracket.6. When the above mentioned modifications have been completed, remove the header and reinstall the gasket and header using the header bolt supplied. Torque to the factory specifications.CONNECT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM:From under the vehicle, reinstall the exhaust system to the headers using the supplied bolts and nuts.AFTER HEADERS ARE IN PLACE:1. Inspect all points with limited clearance. Relocate any points that have direct contact with the headers. Make sure there is adequate clearance around all lines (transmission, brake, fuel, and electrical wires). Reroute if necessary. REPLACE ANY FLUIDS THAT YOU MAY HAVE REMOVED OR LOST.2. Reconnect the battery cable.3. When you have finished installing your headers, take the vehicle for a road test. Listen carefully for any exhaust leaks or other strange noises and make corrections. When the vehicle has been driven for a few days, retighten the header bolts. We find that periodically checking the bolts will prevent the flange from warping and the burning out of the header gaskets. Note: The items you received are shown in the figure.
