These are 20th Century, circa 1950s, machine manufactured, but finished by hand, and engraved by hand. The style of engraving is definitely inspired by 19th Century (and older) designs with the zig-zag lines. Each has a Star of David, opposite side has a simple cartouche which you can get engraved for your recipient with initials or date....or not. Unmonogramed pieces are preferred so they can be handed down for future generations. It looks like 3 stylized leaves on either side between the Star and the cartouche, but not sure. One cup has plain "leaves;" the other has a tiny dot in the center of each "leaf." If you know any significance to this design, please let us know!! Sterling is a timeless precious metal, as it only increases in value down through the years. Perfect for your precious recipient!! Each cup will come wrapped in its own "Pacific" cloth - a brown cloth infused with anti-tarnish material that helps avoid tarnish! You will want to save this and reuse when storing the cups. Very little polishing is ever needed with Pacific cloth storage. Hallmarked for ESCO Sterling. Esco was Eastern Sterling Co out of New York -- There are no dings, dents or problems, both are as shiny as the day they came from the jewelers' shop!!! Some sellers are asking $200 for just one sterling cup!! We are making this more affordable for the right new owner.
