Description: This was recently purchased out of an estate in Iowa. I believe it is macha cotton fabric hand embroidered according to the estate company. Believed to be made by indigenous Purepecha women of Tzintzuntzan, Michoacan. A traditional folk art used as a creative way to record and narrate their daily life and culture, these gorgeous cloths are made on manta, a rough, unbleached cotton and hand-embroidered with yarns and thread. Each woman brings her own imagination to these pieces. Apprx measurements: 21"L x 16"H. It is in good condition with a little bottom back fading as you can see in pics. The threads for wall hanging may have been added at another time. It’s a beautiful piece of story art. Thanks for looking.
