This is the King's first album recorded at RCA in Nashville on January 10th & 11th and at RCA New York on January 30th & 31st, 1956. There were additional cuts added from his Sun Record recordings in Memphis fron 1954 and 1955. RCA had just bought Elvis's contract from Sam Phillip's for a whopping $35,000 and Elvis had made 4 major network TV appearances in 3 months so RCA wanted to make the first Rock & Roll album ever. He was legendary on Music Row and made thousands upon thousands of awards for the music industry worldwide in country, pop and rock. The record label companies would usually order several hundred awards when the albums were certified GOLD or PLATINUM and they would send the awards to radio stations and music executives in gratitude for helping achieve the sales that got the albums to those achievement levels.
