Description: In 1867 Stollwerck Bros became the first chocolate company in Germany to issue cards with its products and in the first year after introduction , the company's turnover doubled .The Company issued many more card sets and in 1900 issued an album of sets each containing 6 cards . I have on auction here Set 142 from that album , totally original and dating from 1900 in used but overall fair to good condition front and rear as scanned . The cards each measure approx 1.5 ins x 3.5 ins are beautifully illustrated and have very detailed information on the rear in German containing the set and card number , manufacturer details and description of the subject illustration . This is a very rare set indeed . I am also offering other sets from the same series on this auction .
