Description: Antique Derby "The Piping Shepherd" Figure br> Stunning piece known as "The piping shepherd" featuring a cross legged shepherd playing a reed pipe in front of a bocage. Made by Derby c. 1770. The original figure was modelled at Meissen by Reinicke and Kändler and was copied at Chelsea, Bow and Derby, becoming one of the most popular figures produced in 18th century England.
