Description: Up for sale is this contemporary plein air oil on board painting by listed California artist Dennis Westerling (b. 1944) entitled California Mission "La Purisima". This Spanish mission is now a California State Historic Park located outside the town of Lompoc California. The painting is housed in a vintage mission quarter sawn oak frame. The frame does have some gaps in the corners and wear from use and age. The painting is signed on the bottom left hand side and also signed and titled on verso. USA Sale Only Biography from the Archives of askART Dennis Westerling, a third generation Californian, was born in 1944 in the San Joaquin Valley. He worked in the construction industry as a mason for 20 years before taking up oil painting. He is known for his plein-air paintings of Southern California landscapes. In 1990, he attended the Walter Emerson Baum School of Art in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He was a student of the noted California artist, Michael Dancer. Westerling is currently a member of the Beverly Hills Art League, and the Los Angeles Businessman's Art Institute and is a Painting Patron Member of the California Art Club.
