Description: This photo is from a 1965 session outside the City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco. Present in the photo are Robbie Robertson, Michael McClure, Bob Dylan, and Allen Ginsberg. This image was taken by young photographer Dale Smith (b.1947), who was there with Larry Keenan for this private session. The signature appears to be with a fine point felt pen. With 30x lighted magnification, one can see where the ink is darker at the overlapping cursive lines, and where lines fade as pen is lifted. This photo is dated "1965, 2001" so I assume 2001 or after is when this was signed.The overall print is 13" x 19" on thin glossy photo paper. The central photo image is 7 1/4" x 11 1/2".The problem with this is a fine sliced cut from the back side that runs at a slight diagonal nearly all the way across the top quarter. My old timer friend unknowingly cut through this and the protective envelope with a razor knife (sigh). It is a fine blade cut, and there is about 5" at the top left of the central photo where the cut is all the way through. It is still firmly attached at the beginning and end of the cut. The cut is almost all in the white border, except for a 3/8" x 3" sliver at the top left of the photo. This might be slightly improved by strengthening with acid free photo tape on the back and flattening the fine seam. Proper matting and framing would cover the large majority of the cut.I guarantee this to be genuine or a complete quick refund of purchase and postage. The provenance is great, from my old timer friend who loved these artists, and bought something at every gallery and show he ever visited. This will be packed and padded well, shipped in a sturdy cardboard mailing tube.Thanks for your interest!
