Description: RARE PRESSING!!! Cover VG+/Vinyl is NM with 3x5 photo with signature of “D. Chief Eagle”. Cover in shrink, first track is great mashup of Native American music + organ In each generation there have been composers who have been blessed with the gift of creating a sound, a different sound. Chief Eagle is one of these people. Here in this album, are 13 melodies that retain all the color and background of the Indians' America. Here is new music that presents the warmth, the passion, the accent of the Red Man's world. Chief Eagle has taken the melodies from ceremonial songs and chants and adapted them into beautiful contemporary styles. Winter Count (Indian Calendar) is an Indian opera based on the historical novel with the same name. Chief Eagle the author of both works, has truly and devoutly exposed the heart and soul of the American Indian. The messages are there, the melancholy, the pride and the rapture, and streaming through all his works is the fervor of love for his people. He was born in 1923 in an Indian tent on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota. He was orphaned as a child and raised by the elders of the tribe -- which accounts for the depth of his early Americana background. He received his first English words from a Blackrobe (Jesuit Missionary). In addition to composing, Chief Eagle, is an author, poet, and a painter of Indian life. His talents are limitless and he is still growing.
