Description: Crowley on Christ by Aleister Crowley with De Arte Magica appended From the Introduction by Francis King: "[H]ere is a treasury of Aleister Crowley's wit, wisdom and criticism which, even if it was the only book its author had written, would suffice to rebut the slander that Crowley was a pleasure-seeking fraud.... Originally entitled, The Gospel According to St. Bernard Shaw, this work was intended as a destructive critique of Bernard Shaw's Androcles and the Lion, but, as Crowley wrote, it became transformed into a detailed, intensely readable and most amusing analysis of the Life of Christ, of the Gospels, and of Christianity itself -- a definitive study of the orthodox religion of Europe and North America from the point of view of Crowleyan magick." This is a hardcover copy in Good condition. The dust jacket bears some paint marks on the spine and some dirty marks which are visible just inside the folds and at the top, back edge. The dust jacket also has tiny tears at the top corners, a 1.5-inch tear on the bottom, back, and some creasing near the front, bottom. The cover itself is in very good shape with some minor wear on the bottom and top edges. There is some yellowing inside the front and back covers and pages just adjacent. The first interior page also bears price marks and a stamp from a bookseller. The outer edges are faintly stained. The interior pages are generally unmarked. However, on pages 16 and 29 someone has drawn a box around some text in red pen.
