Description: Cross Creek Cookery by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. Published by Charles Scribner's Sons, New York. 1942. First edition, first printing as signified by "A" on copyright page. This is not a cook book in the traditional manner, but it does contain over 250 recipes and some 30 menus for breakfast, luncheon, dinner, and camp dinners. It is, as the title suggests, a mouth-watering, evocative, and charmingly conversational discussion of cooking at Cross Creek. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings (1896 – 1953) was an American author who lived in rural Florida and wrote novels with rural themes and settings. Her best known work, The Yearling, about a boy who adopts an orphaned fawn, won a Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1939. Illustrated by Robert Cook. 230 pages. The book is clean and tight. Some discoloration on the endpapers. The DJ is quite rough along the edges. Now in a Mylar protector.
