Description: Early American mustard spoon by Nathaniel Francis active in New York 1803-1827. This exquisite spoon is rare since it is in 1790's style with an early coffin end & early engraving, a slender handle and a monogram with block letters. It is in fine condition with no dents, no dimples, no bends with an excellent silversmith mark. It is 4 3/4" long and weighs 8.9 grams. The consensus is that coffin end spoons were uniquely American and first appeared in 1790. s.
