Description: Clarkia concinna is an annual in the Onagraceae family. It's call red or pink ribbons by its common names. A native of California. This endemic is found in the lower elevations in the northern part of the mountains of the state. This wildflower is an erect, herbaceous stem plant with very unusual flowers. The four sepals in the middle represent silk ribbon, while the dark pink three-lobed petals have white streaks in them. It grows to about 2 feet tall in part shade and dry soil. It blooms from May to July in a crowded bunch. Do not thin out, as crowding will entice more blooms. Germination Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-30 days.
