Description: Here is an ORIGINAL CDV of GEORGE DAVIS (1839-1899) who was born in Franklin Falls, New Hampshire in 1839 and at the age of 17 he moved to Illinois, where he lived for 2 years. He, and 2 older brothers, were living in Sauk Centre, Minn. when the Civil War broke out. He enlisted on Feb. 2nd, 1862 with the 2nd Minnesota Light Artillery in Stearns Co., Minn. as a Private Union Soldier. With a possible sickness, it was rumored that on Oct. 29th, 1863 he transferred into the Veteran Reserve Corps, there he was “Discharged”. This CDV measures: almost 2.5’ by4’ inches with his name written on the front side (photo # 3). Top left corner (see photo # 1) shows a little “age”. Otherwise in EXCELLENT condition. Not 100% sure if that is his signature. NOTE: At his residence in Sauk Centre (Stearns Co.), Minnesota on Friday May 19th (1899) he died of Pernicious Anemia.
