Description: CIRCA 1861 HK-875 SO-CALLED DOLLAR LOYAL NATIONAL LEAGUE MS 62 RB THERE ARE ONLY (2) MS 63'S AND (1) MS 65 FINER OF ONLY (6) LISTED OF THIS TYPE IN THE NGC CENSUS AS OF 3/2024. THE ONLY AUCTION LOT THAT I FIND FOR THIS TYPE IS A TERRIBLE LOOKING PCGS MS 61 BN THAT SOLD FOR $288.00 IN 2022 BY STACKS BOWERS. MY EXAMPLE IS FIERY RED COMPARED TO THAT EXAMPLE. I PURCHASED THIS MEDAL FROM JEFF SHEVLIN IN 2016. The Loyal National League was organized in early 1861 by Northern patriots to counteract propaganda of the Copperhead movement by Southern sympathizers in the border areas of Missouri, Kentucky, southern Illinois and southern Ohio. Leagues, formed in several northern cities, had as their purpose the implanting of loyalty and the rooting out of disloyalty to the federal government; Loyal National League demanded that southern sympathizers be dismissed from government employment. The propaganda war continued after Lincoln's inauguration and until Ft. Sumter was fired upon April 12, 1861, an action that unified public opinion in the North. Designer, die sinker, manufacturer, and issuing agency unknown. MY NGC REGISTRY SET "BRUCE THOMAS COLLECTION OF SO-CALLED DOLLARS AND OTHER MEDALS" WAS VOTED AS THE BEST CUSTOM SET FOR 2018 BY THE NGC REGISTRY AWARDS. I AM VERY PROUD OF THIS ACCOMPLISHMENT, AND THANKS TO NGC FOR THIS HONOR. PLEASE BE ASSURED OF A FLAWLESS AND EASY TRANSACTION BY MY 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK WHILE SELLING MANY NUMISMATIC ITEMS IN THE PAST 20 YEARS. I WILL BE LISTING MANY MORE EXONUMIA ITEMS IN THE FUTURE, INCLUDING MANY SO-CALLED DOLLARS, DEWITT LISTED POLITICAL CAMPAIGN MEDALS, AND OTHER UNITED STATES HISTORIC MEDALS. THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING MY LISTINGS TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION.
