Child’s Vintage 1950s Oatmeal Mexican Embroidered Tourist/Souvenir Jacket

Description: This listing is for a Lovely Child’s Vintage 1950s Oatmeal Colored Mexican Embroidered Tourist/Souvenir Jacket. This is an iconic Mexican jacket that was made for the tourists visiting Mexico in the 1940s to the 1960s. It is a beautiful and rare oatmeal colored wool felt with embroidered and appliquéd designs of flowers, villagers, and gourds on the front. The back of the jacket features the historical characters of the China Poblana and Vaquero dancing couple. There is dark blue cross stitching around the collar, down the front and bottom, and around the two pockets and cuffs. This jacket is in excellent condition with no holes, stains, or missing threads. The embroidery and appliqué work is very skillfully done, especially, for a child's jacket. This jacket bears the well known "Lopez" label. Any dark areas are shadows from photographing. These jackets, meant to be worn open, can be worn for special occasions such as Halloween, or can be worn casually with denim, a skirt, or a dress. Many women have told me that they remember wearing a jacket like this when they were a child, but don't know whatever happened to it, and they wished they still had it. When your child outgrows this jacket, you should consider having it professionally framed so that it will be a fashion art keepsake for either you or your child and makes a great, colorful artwork.
