Description: CHEMISTRY SET Experiments From The Lab Remastered Studio & Rare Recordings, 1981-1987 2023 CD Equation Records E=mc33 NEW/SEALED Chemistry Set was a New Wave Synth-pop band from New Jersey, active 1981-1987. Begun by Steve Mecca and Terry Kennedy who both came from the same late 1970s progressive art rock band (Kathexis), with the addition of Mike Reaves, Chemistry Set dazzled audiences in New Jersey and New York City with their own peculiar band of New Wave synth-pop, taking their cue from similar popular acts of the time such as Depeche Mode, Human League, Thompson Twins, Berlin, etc. The only prior release of any Chemistry Set material was the song "King's Gambit" which appeared on New Jersey Radio Station WDHA's New Jersey Rock IV LP (1985) and a video (see video clip) for the same song which was played on MTV and other TV outlets that played rock videos. (Steve and Terry were also in the New Age World Music group, Malaysian Pale, on the 1he "Nature's Fantasies" album, 1987, Fortuna Records.) Prior to this album's release in October, 2023, several Chemistry Set tracks were considered unsolved "Lost Wave" tracks with partial recordings culled from radio station and/or live performances, discussed on Reddit threads and elsewhere. The original recordings were digitized, restored and mastered to their former glory by restoration specialist Michael Graves at Osiris Studios in Los Angeles. This is 80s music you likely never heard before - cool pop music of a bygone era, with a stellar female vocalist, sparkling synths and an irresistible beat. Only a few hundred of these CDs were pressed, and when they're gone, they're gone.
