This unusual card stock invitation measures approximately 5.375 by 4.25 inches in size, and I believe that it would have been given to select individuals in order to promote the show. The tea was scheduled for Saturday, October 26th, 1940 at 5:30 PM, and most likely would have taken place on stage, in the garden, following that Saturday matinee. It is for Brandon Thomas' "Charley's Aunt", featuring Jose Ferrer, Nedda Harrigan, Arthur Margetson, Thomas Speidel and J. Richard Jones, and playing at the Cort Theatre, in New York City, in 1940. The invitation is in great, vintage condition, with no rips, tears, writing or damage, and minimal soiling and wear.
