This stein was produced in 1886, per the base date stamp, which corresponds with the celebration / anniversary. -Features landscape view including the Heidelberg castle, cityscape, bridge and river. -Lid engraved " Charles Heidelberger " and was likely a presentation stein / gift for the famous physician / researcher. Charles Heidelberger was a cancer researcher who developed and patented an anticancer drug called 5-Fluorouracil that remains widely used against cancers of the stomach, colon and breast.
