Description: Ceropegia Sandersonii Native to Mozambique, this plant is an excellent addition to any collection. It makes an excellent hanging basket and it can also be trained to climb across shelves in a sunny window. Given a bright location and well draining soil, it will reward you with its unique flowers around late summer or fall. During the winter, it will go into a dormancy period where growth slows down or stops completely. In certain conditions, the leaves will change to a lovely shade of dark red. Rooting Instructions for Cuttings You will receive three cuttings that have already been calloused over. Often the stems will have no leaves, but fear not, these plants are very easy to root and grow new leaves readily. To successfully propagate ceropegia, place each cutting in a small draining pot of houseplant mix. It helps to use a clear cup so you can monitor root development easily. The node should be at least 1” deep in the mix. Place in a sunny and warm location, water thoroughly and keep moist for 2-4 weeks. Eventually, white roots will emerge from the base of the cutting and soon after you will likely see new leaves growing at the top or from the base. When your cuttings are rooted and healthy, transfer them to your desired pot and watch them take over! If given very well draining soil, they can be watered more frequently and grow even more vigorously. Alternatively, you can root the cuttings in water on a warm windowsill and transfer them to soil after roots emerge. Be sure to change the water often during this time. Whatever method suits you will likely result in success!~ Further Tips for Success A well established plant can tolerate a lot of neglect, but a well cared one will be continuously rewarding. To create a fuller plant, propagate more cuttings by placing them into your established plant. Use a chopstick to poke a hoke, place your cutting inside and water well. I recommend regular feedings in the growing seasons or a time-release fertilizer. Shipping We do not offer heat packs at this time. Please ensure your local temperatures are warm enough for cuttings to arrive safely. Your cuttings will be taken from my mother plant, allowed to callous over, and then shipped.
