Designed by artist Maxine Miller known for her intricate and detailed artwork on Celtic Mythology goddesses. Danu holds a vessel from which swirling waters pour. A healthy fish leaps up from the waters detailed on her cape, as well as a frog from the other side of her long-sleeved cloak. Danu is an ancient Irish triple goddess who is considered the “Great Mother” of Ireland. She is the Mother of the Irish gods and faery people, the Tuatha Dé Danann , which literally means the “People of the Goddess Danu”. Danu means knowledge, wisdom, wealth, and abundance. However, her name is also connected to water, and could mean ‘the flowing one’. Goddess Danu is considered the most ancient of all Celtic Deities. She is also known as Dana and as her Welsh equivalent, Don. Some references have her as so ancient that she is both goddess and god and refer to Danu as an all-encompassing Divine Source. This multi-faceted aspect of the Divine Feminine is experienced as the air we breathe, as the river that nourishes all of life, as the bounty and abundance of the earth, and as the cosmic energy of universal wisdom. A Triple Goddess, which means she is able to take the form of the Maiden, the Mother or the Crone, and a Divine Lady who is the essence of the earth, the air, and the essence of water, Danu is able to embody the form/energy suited the situation. Here she brings the power of versatility and teaches us to honor and respect diversity within ourselves and within others and reminds us to honor each stage of our physical life. Goddess Danu is also known as the Goddess of Fertility and abundance. She is considered to be an Earth Goddess, Wisdom, and Wind and also wields the magic of Divine Flow. These should not be seen as imperfections, as they are the characteristics of these special items. Please view all the photos and feel free to ask questions.
