Item #312149 David Nelson (1793-1844) was a Presbyterian minister and abolitionist. Originally a slaveholder, he changed his stance after hearing a speech by Theodore Dwight Weld. Nelson also founded Marion College in Missouri. Violence at one of Nelson's anti-slavery speches made him flee Marion County and live as a fugitive for some time. This book is an account of his conversion to Christianity and commentary on religious skepticism and ignorance.
