Description: Offered here is an original historical California landscape by well known American impressionist Carlton Chapman, circa 1914. The view is from a section of old San Diego with Point Loma in the far distance. Beyond the houses at right would be Coronado. Based on a similar historical painting by another artist, this may be a view from Logan Heights, as it looked in 1914. The artist spent most of his career on the east coast but according to the artist's biography, he was living in Los Angeles between 1912 and 1918. The canvas size is 20 x 30 inches and the overall framed size is ~28 x 38 inches. Painting is signed lower left 'Carlton T. Chapman'. Prior to being lined, back of canvas was inscribed "Old Town San Diego, Cal., 1914, Carlton T. Chapman 58 W. 57th St." Painting is in very good condition. Canvas has been lined and painting has been professionally cleaned. Canvas shows light scattered craquelure. Painting was acquired directly from Chapman's family decendants, along with many other works. ______________________________________________________ Carlton Theodore Chapman (1860-1925) Carlton T Chapman -Early San Diego, CA - View to Point Loma from Old Town -1914 Click image to enlarge Description Offered here is an original historical California landscape by well known American impressionist Carlton Chapman, circa 1914.
