Description: I find it both interesting and appropriate that the original Fordham College student owner of this book went on to become an engineer at NASA. He was a mechanical engineer and worked on the space shuttle and on the space station. He kept these books in his personal collection his entire life It is interesting to see his notations, drawings, and doodles in this book. In later life he had a embossing stamp that he used to emboss his name and initials on the title page. These books have been heavily used. Volume one is in marginally better shape than volume two -- either he got more serious about studying when it came to volume two, or he had to spend more time reviewing what he missed! I will try to describe the condition as best as I can, but It is better for you to look at the pictures to see the condition. I'm happy to send more pictures as well. Volume I Introduction, With Vectors and Analytic Geometry First edition 1961, Third Printing 1962 Volume one has some wear to the cover, especially at the bottom and top edges. The spine is loose-- completely separated at the back, but still attached to the front , but just barely. If you look at the title page, you can see the spine through a crack. The owner stamped and wrote his name and student address multiple times in the book. As mentioned earlier, he later used an embossing stamp with his name and initials on the title page. There is highlighting, underlying, doodles, and notes written throughout the book. Volume II Calculus of Several Variables with Applications to Probability and Vector Analysis First edition 1962. I also assume it is the first printing since there is no mention of it being a subsequent printing, but I could be wrong. Volume two has also been heavily used. The cover has a tear in the cloth cover of the board on the bottom front that has been covered with tape. You can see this easily in the pictures. The spine cloth cover has separated from the spine board at the top half. There are scuffs and wear on the cover as well. Like volume one, there are areas where you can see the spine through the pages. There is also underlining, highlighting, and doodles throughout the book. As in book one, the original owner wrote his name and stamped his name throughout the book, including his embossed stamp. In addition, there are paper clips attached to the top of a few pages. I have more books from this estate and others.
