He has been considered the father of bird study in Australia and the Gould League in Australia is named after him. His identification of the birds now nicknamed "Darwin's finches" played a role in the inception of Darwin's theory of evolution by natural selection. Mid-20th century dark blue mount. with gilt wood frame. Not glazed. Size of plate (visible area within mount aperture): approx. 50.8cm x 32cm / frame - approx. 64.7cm x 45cm. Will need to be sent flat-packed, hence the higher than normal cost of shipping to customers outside the UK.Good condition. Plate partly trimmed and backed on card. Brown mounting tape has been placed around the whole of the printed area, up to within a few mms from the edge. But this is not visible within the mount and frame, as can be seen from the gallery images. A few scratches and small nicks to edges of frame.
