Description: Childs ‘Porcelain AUTUMN’ Tea Set, c 1880, Germany Reference: Margaret & Kenn Whitmyer, ‘Collector’s Encyclopedia of Children’s Dishes,’ p 177. This is a child’s miniature porcelain Tea Set with the pattern name ‘AUTUMN’ that is unmarked but identified in the reference stated above. The pieces are very white porcelain and then decorated in a hand-painted floral and leaf design in blues, rusts, and brown, and with gold accents and border details. The gilding remains strong on the pieces in this set. This Tea Set consists of: (1) Teapot with Lid: 5.5” W x 4” x 6.5” H(1) Creamer: 3.25” W x 2.75” D x 4” H(6) Plates: 5” Diameter(6) Cups: 3.375” W x 2.5” D x 2.25” H One with an underside firing flaw and chip to rim near the handle, And one with foot rim chips.(6) Saucers: 5” Diameter One with an underside edge chip. Please ignore the white glare reflections in the photos. This miniature child’s porcelain Tea Set is in excellent condition, with the exceptions noted above. There may be minor typical firing imperfections that sporadically may appear consistent with production from this period of time, but nothing that diminishes the display value.
