Description: Listed for sale is a custom faux OF traditional scale sorrel tobiano paint in glossy finish on the Old Timer mold, sculpted by Chris Hess and released by Breyer in 1966. As a little girl, I collected Breyer horses and also competed in 4-H with my project horse, a Paint Horse mare called TRS Pleasure (1988-2017). My wish was that Breyer would someday make a model of my own horse. Later in life, I discovered that I could actually pay tribute to her myself. Using photos of ‘Pleasure’, I created her exact pattern to mask my own models. I’ve only made 5 models to date on different molds, and this model is one of them. I haven’t painted many models in the last couple of years, but hopefully I’ll have time to return to the hobby soon. This model was finished in 2022. He comes with a custom replica gray straw hat, a decorative Christmas wreath, and has a replica blue ribbon sticker on his shoulder that reads “TRS Pleasure”. This model was bleach-stripped to bare plastic and thoroughly rinsed and dried before being airbrushed to a lovely rich sorrel paint horse. I didn’t think to sand off the male parts, so he is a gelding version of my late mare. He bears the artist’s signature (eC) on his underside. This model has had no structural repairs. Since this guy was one of the first runs of this pattern, he does have several small flaws, which are visible in these photos. Please enlarge pictures and look closely to make sure they don’t bother you. He also rattles slightly when moved - so make sure you’re ok with that too. This old guy is fresh and ready to round out your Old Timer conga or faux OF custom Breyer collection! Short artist bio: I have collected Breyer horses for quite some time (my first models were the classic Arab family, a gift from my parents when I was around 4 years old). As a kid, I made saddles and bridles for my models to compete with in a string arena on my foyer floor. In 2003, I graduated from the University of Kentucky with a minor in Art Studio. In 2010, I learned that customizing Breyer models was a legitimate hobby, and began to seek out methods used by current artists in the field. While I’ve done (and will still occasionally create) drastic customs with a more realistic finish, I prefer to make models that I’d want to add to my own OF collection. I especially love vintage finishes. I work full time in neurology at Cincy Children’s and am very active in my family life, but when I can, I set aside time for my art. This is all to say that I do this for fun, to see what my capabilities are, and to serve as a creative outlet. I don’t accept commissions, but if you have ideas about what you’d like to see here on eBay, you can always send me a message! Some auction-style listings will include the “Best Offer” feature. Typically the OBO threshold will be set at (or around) the starting price. This is mainly so that if a buyer wins one auction, they can potentially win a second without having to wait for time to elapse. Every item is safely packaged and shipped to you via USPS Priority Mail with insurance, which is included in the shipping price. If shipping is significantly over cost (after insurance is added), I will issue a refund for the difference. Prompt payment is greatly appreciated. If you need more than 24 hours from auction end to fund your purchase, please message me with your intention to pay ASAP and I’ll be more than happy to work with you. Non-paying bidders will be reported. Please enlarge photos to see details of all aspects of items and message me with any questions you may have prior to bidding. Thanks!
