Born Betty Graffina Leabo, she attended UCLA and was a model prior to her signing a contract with Twentieth Century Fox. In 1939, she made her big screen debut in the picture "The Rains Came" with George Brent & Myrna Loy and first appeared as 'Jane' in the 1945 film "Tarzan and the Amazons", replacing Maureen O'Sullivan who previously played the role. Among her other notable film credits are "Private Nurse" (1941), "Pillow of Death" with Lon Chaney Jr (1945), "Little Giant" (1946) and "Danger Woman" (1946). She retired from acting following the picture "Tarzan's Magic Fountain" in 1949.
