It shows which pages "Nearest" (also spelled "Nearis") Green is mentioned. Green was a slave who was known to be a skilled whiskey distiller. He was leased to Dan Call when Jack Daniel was a young boy just beginning to learn the distilling trade. After much research, it is now known that Green taught Daniel how to make the famous whiskey. Many decades later, Green's written "recipe" and methods were discovered by his descendants who opened the Nearest Green Distillery in Bedford County, Tennessee, just north of Moore County where Lynchburg is located. They are within an hour's drive of each other. Both distilleries give tours, which has been an economic boom to both counties. Laid in the book is one page of additional information about Green.
