Autograph letter penned on 2-1/2 sides of 3 sheets of 11 inch high by 8-3/4 inch wide paper. Signed "Ben". There are paper-clip marks to the 1st & 3rd sheets at top left & all 3 have some light creasing. Folded once for mailing. Good. Burman writes to James B. Pond that his lecture tour is going very well, particularly in Cincinnati, where the Women's Club is sponsoring a big show for him at the leading bookshop and want him to return in the fall. He asks "Bim" to get in touch with three women who have good connections with their local organizations, in particular Ruth Neely [with whom he is staying in Covington], who is a close friend and is "one of the two or three really important journalists in this entire section of the country". He also refers to the publishers Farrar and Rinehart: "I don't know what arrangements if any you've made with John Farrar, but if you don't fix things up satisfactorily with him, I'd suggest forgetting about Farrar & Rinehart for the present, fix up the announcement as you want it, and send me the bill." Ben Lucien Burman [1896-1984] was an American author and journalist. He was married to Alice Caddy who illustrated many of his children's books, including his most successful, the Catfish Bend series, set in Catfish Bend, Mississippi, which became popular with both children and adults. The series tells a tale of many animal residents of Catfish Bend and was eventually published in eleven different languages. I UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEE THE AUTHENTICITY OF THE ABOVE AUTOGRAPH!
