Description: This 1968 stereo 2LP album from Columbia Masterworks (MS 7095) features Ludwig van Beethoven's 5th Symphony in C Minor, Op. 67, transcribed for piano by Franz Liszt and played by Glenn Gould. Album notes on the back (see Photo 2) are... strange. They are reprints of various articles compiled by Glenn Gould himself, mainly critical of either him or his choice of music. (e.g. "Mr. Gould has been absent from British platforms these past few years, and if this new CBS release is indicative of his current musical predilections, perhaps it is just as well." -- Sir Humphrey Price-Davies, writing in The Phonograph) The outer sleeve shows damage to the bottom 2¼" of the spine at lower left (Photo 1), as well as a piece missing from the lower right corner. There is a narrow pair of staple holes through the upper left corner of both outer and inner sleeves, and the inner sleeve has some handwritten notations across the top. (Photo 3) There is a small collection index sticker in the upper right corner of the back.
