Description: Product Description: These books were recovered from the estate of the late Rabbi Morton Shalowitz. Born in December of 1923, he served in the United States Army as a chaplain during the Korean War. On May 2nd, 1954 with the help of General Maxwell Taylor, he helped to build the 1st synagogue in Korea. He was promoted to colonel in 1974 and retired from the Army Reserves in 1983. After his military service ended, Colonel Shalowitz served in the congregation of Temple Beth Israel, in Fond Du Lac Wisconsin and retired in 1992. The Rabbi passed away in August of 2011, living a full life of 87 years. Rabbi Shalowitz's extensive library collection of over 2000 books was put up for auction last year and were purchased by our company. We are now trying to help find a new home for the his books. We hope that they can be appreciated by those who understand the importance of preserving faith, history and culture.
