Description: Vintage paperback copy of The Pathless Trail, by Arthur O. Friel (Peter Haddock Limited, 1969). Friel was a prolific writer of adventure stories in the early decades of the 20th century, whose work has often been compared to that of Edgar Rice Burroughs and Robert E. Howard. The Pathless Trail is the first of four books he wrote about the adventures of a group of WWI veterans in the jungles of South America. In this book, the three adventurers (McKay, Ryan, and Knowlton) search for a wealthy heir who is rumored to be living among a tribe of cannibals. The novel was serialized in Adventure magazine in 1922 but not published in book form until 1969, when it was reprinted as a paperback by Centaur Press. This copy, however, is not the Centuar Press edition but a different edition printed in Hungary for Peter Haddock Limited. A rare copy of an interesting pulp adventure! This book is in excellent (like new) condition, with a tight spine and no sign of ever having been read.
