This Samantabhadra carving depicts him in a sensual embrace with his consort Samantabhadri. His consort represents the feminine attribute of wisdom and he is the embodiment of compassion and skillful means. This carving is a depiction of their eternal union which is considered to be enlightenment in the Nyingma school. They sit together on a single lotus pedestal. Samantabhadri sits on his lap while he is seated in full lotus pose and depicts the Dhyana “meditation” mudra. This is a lightweight handcarved wooden figure depicting the above description!
