Description: If only it could talk. This well traveled writing box is probably from the mid-1800’s to early 1900 period. I’m not sure what type of wood it is made of. It has a plate in the center which I believe is brass. There are no markings on it. Measures: 10 ½ X 8 X 4 inches. It has two cracks on the top. The larger one across the center looks like they tried to fill it in a long time ago. The other one is in the upper left corner that goes at an angle to the back. One hinge pin has a piece of wire for the pin. No key included. I’m not sure but it looks like the keyhole surround is missing a piece of the top. The felt on the bottom is in fairly good condition. The red felt inside has a small piece missing near the left top corner but otherwise is in fairly good condition. There are small marks and scratches owing to its extensive use and age.Please see all my photos. They are an important part of the description. I pride myself in accurate descriptions.
