Description: Antique 1893-1899 Whitney Reed Chair Co Leominster MA Wood Cane Wicker Child Rocking Chair. Founded in 1893, the Whitney Reed Chair Company made high-quality furniture in Leominster, Massachusetts until 1899. This is a very sweet, small, child's rocking chair perfect for a porch or next to the fireplace in the right environment. A section of reed in the middle of the back has several broken links and would benefit from repair (please review condition description above) and the cane seat, though perfectly usable, is old and may be brittle enough to break with heavy use. That too can be redone. Iconic period piece deserves a good home where it will be appreciated. Like many furniture companies of that era, Whitney Reed also made wooden blackboards, novelties, and toys, including ABC blocks and rocking horses. Measures 25 3/4" tall x 22 3/4" deep x 17" wide at top.
