Exteriors are coverall clean showing some minor age, use and shelf wear as well as minor rubs to the upper and lower ends of the spine and outer corner edges of the coverboards. Spine face has gold gilded and embossed title text. Books are overall internally clean with notation on the front endpaper of volume 1 as well as some minor toning or light soiling to the endpapers on each volume. Interiors of the books are overall very clean. Volume II has a bit of toning at the very outer most margins of the pages and then by the end of the book at the index and following publisher's advertisings this toning turns to a vague damp stain. Books' bindings are tight and well intact and the books are complete with all pages present and none coming loose, detached or missing. Volume I totals 318 pages and Volume II totals 421 pages followed by publisher's catalog of other books available at the end of the 19th century. Books together measure approximately 7 7/8 x 5 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches and weigh about 2 3/4 pounds.
