Description: Antique / Vintage Solid Brass Double Ink Well Box Small with 2 Glass Inkwells measuring approximately 3.75"L x 1 7/8"W x 1 1/2"D. The box is from Turkey Turkiye and opens to reveal 2 hand blown glass removable inkwells measuring approximately 1 1/4 inches in depth, one with a rounded base and one with a flat base. The rounded base inkwell has 1 chip on the edge and the flat base inkwell has several chips on the edge. Chips are on the top lip edges and both will still hold ink. The box weighs approximately 190.49 grams total. The Roman numeral 12 (XII) is added to the inside of the box by electric engraving pen and they have scratched an O and an X on the inside of the box lid above the inkwells. I don't know the purpose of any of these marks, maybe ink color designation, your guess is as good as mine. Circa 1930's to 40's. A great piece for the smaller desktop or library ornament. My father and my husbands father brought back many lovely pieces of jewelry, porcelain, clothing, perfumes, and household items to their new and future brides upon their return from Europe after WWII.
