Description: For sale is a vintage or antique primitive hand carved burl ladle with very clear burl grain patterns. It has pouring spout which is a unique form. New and shining applied finish gives it a bright appearance. The circular marks on the bottom are presumed to be where the burl was stuck on a lathe. Solid and stable condition. No cracks. This ladle is made from a burl which is a large rounded knot of dormant bud growths. This deformed growth pattern on trees yields a very dense wood with fantastic grain patterns that are highly sought after in the woodworking field even today. Measures about 7" diameter and 18" long and bowl about 4 " deep. . It is clean and dry, no odor, would display well on a farm table at your home. There are age appropriate wears and natural imperfections in the wood commensurate with age. Please check all photos for detailed condition. Ship with careful packaging and full insurance.
