Description: A lovely piece of history. This is from an estate lot and a bit is known about the provenance of this antique clothing. It seems most of the items (which included corset covers, petticoats, and 13 baby gowns (!)), belonged to a somewhat prominent family from the Knoxville, Tennessee area, which included sisters named Isabel, Lucinda and Cecilia. As they seem to have kept and passed down heirloom lace and clothing in the family, this item may date as far back as the Georgian or Civil War era, at least some of the lace applied. See last photos for a reference to them, but PLEASE NOTE that letter, card and the antique tatted medallions on it are not included in this listing. *********************** A bit about Edwardian and Victorian lace items. Typically the lace was imported, often from England, Ireland or France. Lace applied to baby and wedding clothes as well as ladies petticoats and other trousseau items was often handed down and reworked into the clothing. *********************** Items may have some light wear, and some slight storage discoloration, which should come out with Mama's Miracle or Restoration (which are specially formulated to clean antique linens and can be found very cheaply on Amazon, although a very gentle dilution of OxiClean may also do the trick).
