Description: Spanish colonial tooled polychrome leather petaca with iron lock and handles, 17th Century and inscribed ANO 1647?. Highly detailed leather with foliage and cultural figures, traces of polychrome still seen. Lid opens and closes, handles are sturdy. Lock hasp is early iron work that appears to have been changed to allow more security when locked. Leather is original with wear to surface, patina and rub marks, losses and splits to leather, old touch ups, etc. Please see all photos for condition.
