Description: Shagreen double ended necessaire dating to the late 18th century, possibly French. The piece stands only 1 3/4" tall. One end opens to reveal four miniature silver mounted scent bottles (3/4" each) and a silver funnel. The other end opens to reveal a makeup mirror and a compartment containing a makeup brush with two other compartments, possibly for pills or patches. The bottles are in good condition with no chips or cracks. The case shows signs of wear but no major losses. The mirror is dirty and obscured. The funnel is marked in two places, possibly a standard and a maker's mark, but they are illegible. I have several other items from this period in my shop.
