Description: Schlitz Hotel Advertising Service Plate 1911 's the famous old Schlitz Hotel at 3rd St. and Grand Ave. (now N. 3rd St. and W. Wisconsin Ave.). The building housed the Schlitz Palm Garden, which was known throughout the country. The photograph was taken around the turn of the century. ' The Schlitz Palm Garden contained all the flourish of mid-Victorian architecture -- and certainly had plenty of palms, when it was developed in 1896. It was the last word in beer gardens. Item : is a beautiful Schlitz Hotel Advertising Service Plate used to set on the table before you ate for pure decoration. I do not believe this was ever eaten on ther are very few scratches on this plate jut from handling. See a couple of pictures above of the hotel and a beer garden w this may have been placed. The Top of the plate has the Trade mark SCHLITZ Globe Logo and the words "THE SCHLITZ HOTEL" 2 1/2" tall by 4" wide. Plate shows signs of having been used. Please see photos.
