Description: For your consideration is a single polychrome decorated Rococo Battersea candlestick in need of either graceful acceptance or repair. It is made of a white enamel over copper. The knobbed candle shaft, bobeche, and hexagonal lobed base are hand painted with transfer vignettes of polychrome flowers framed in gilt scroll work and the base has three medallions containing beautifully executed pastoral scenes of country people in various pursuits, surrounded by gilt scrollwork and frames. Made in England circa 1750. The candlestick measures approximately 6.75 inches tall. Evidence of prior restoration on bobeche and candle stem, additional crack located just above base. Provenance: deaccessioned from the Fine Art Museums of San Francisco. Museum inventory number painted on foot but is not permanent and can be removed. The item(s) are antique and sold as is/as found. The item(s) may show wear, fading, scratches, repairs, restoration, original imperfections and/or damage from normal use. Damage to piece has been documented as shown in photos.
