Description: A lovely antique find at a local estate sale in the Philly mainline area! This 15 1/8" long platter features a vibrant color design signed by RK Beck, a noted artist of the natural world of the early 1900s who worked with a number of top ceramics companies in the US and Europe. The back is marked Mellor & Co., Essex" and underneath, "Ionia Mfg. Co", indicating that it could have been a piece meant as early advertising for Ionia. The platter is 11 1/4" in width and is 1 1/4" in height from the table top. There is significant crazing, browning, and several chips broken off along the edge, and some cracks along the edge although the integrity of the platter is still good. The gold gilding along is edge is significantly worn. However, the striking colors of the central design of two deer and the surrounding garland of pink purple and white flowers with greenery is still lovely. Please see all pictures for condition and details. Enjoy!
