Description: This is an antique men’s leather folding wallet. It has a wrap around strap to close it. Multi pocket—3 pockets on one side, then 3 more pockets that have a separate small strap to close them. There is a name written in ink in two places, W L Cleaves, Mont Vernon, NH. I did some research to find out when this man lived—see photo. The W L stands for William Lincoln (Cleaves), and he was born in 1821, and died in 1860, at the young age of 39. This shows that his wallet was pre Civil War, probably made between 1840-1850 (considering the wear on it.). The wallet shows some wear. There is a split in the leather on the top left front. The wrap around strap is loose where attached to the wallet. General wear to the leather from age and use.
