This is a listing for a very special and unique pocket watch holder stand probably from the 1890-1910 time period. It is an original piece and not a reproduction. I do not know the composition of the metal, but, it looks to have been silver plated at one time. The base is very stable and is very suitable to hold a typical size 18 pocket watch or even a bit bigger-see the photos. One very minor point: the spindle is a tiny bit loose, about a 1/4" side play, but is very solid on it's mounting and the watch is held very stable. The measurements are in the photos. The holder features a round tray for a watch chain or other accessory if desired. This watch stand would be great for that special pocket watch for best display!
